Dallas Cowboys Playoffs Preview: Road to Redemption

Dallas Cowboys Flag_Logo_Small ResolutionNo one – including our North Texas-based app company – expected the Cowboys to have the remarkable season they’re having. A winning record seemed to be the furthest thing in the minds of most fans, let alone an NFC East Championship and a playoff run.

After losing much of our star power on defense to injuries and offseason free agency, imminent doom seemed to loom over the Cowboys season, until one particularly weird thing happened…we started winning!!

Many analysts predicted the Cowboys to do very poorly this season, projecting their overall standing to be around 6-10. Unlike previous years where the Cowboys have always held contention as one of the better teams in football, this year the expectations were understandably lower. That’s what makes this Cowboys season so special – especially for native Texans like most members of our mobile app company. Here’s our Dallas Cowboys Playoffs Preview.

The New Big 3

With a fantastic offensive line and the emergence of running back Demarco Murray and wide receiver Dez Bryant as superstars, the Cowboys have piled on the points this year. Demarco Murray has been running like a man possessed while Bryant is slowly starting to draw strong comparisons to the Cowboys former great wide receiver Michael Irvin. Both of these athletes deserve the praise they have received due to the fact they both broke Cowboys franchise records this year – in the same game!

In the game versus the Washington Redskins this past Sunday, Murray broke Emmitt Smith’s single-season rushing record, bringing him to a total of 1,845 yards on the season with 13 touchdowns. At age 26, he ended the regular season as the NFL leader in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and rushing yards per game. He has played every game this season despite breaking his hand earlier this month and undergoing surgery. This just goes to show what he’s capable of when he’s healthy. Relive the moment of him surpassing Emmitt Smith’s record below.

Wide receiver Dez Bryant also broke a Dallas franchise record in the first quarter of the Washington game. His second touchdown catch of the day was his 16th on the season, breaking Terrell Owens’ Cowboys record for single-season touchdown receptions. Bryant and Murray have both been selected to the 2015 NFL Pro Bowl for their accomplishments this year.

And how could we forget about Tony Romo? For years he has been the scapegoat of all Cowboys fans when the team doesn’t do well (hating Tony Romo is a common pastime in Texas) — but not this year! He did a little bit of record breaking himself, passing Troy Aikman as the Cowboys all-time leading passer with over 33,000 yards and putting his name in the conversation for the NFL’s MVP. He has played absolutely fantastically and proven he can win games when they’ve been on the line this year.

So what does the future hold for the new Big 3 and this Cowboys team? As for right now, the sky’s the limit. Read more of our Dallas Cowboys Playoffs Preview on our chances of winning the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl Chatter

The Cowboys have been playing so well that here in Dallas there are already rumblings of them making it all the way to the Super Bowl. As an app company from Texas, we admit Texans can be arrogant – but this year that prediction may not be too far from accurate. Not only have the Cowboys stepped up on offense, but the defense has played phenomenal as well.

Led by the new middle linebacker Rolando McClain and a much improved secondary, the Cowboys have outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points in the past 2 weeks. Always having struggled in the past around the month of December, these numbers are significant because they not only prove that the Cowboys are playing well, but suggest a strong run in the playoffs for the first time in 5 years.

In the NFL it’s all about who’s playing well at the end of the season and right now the hottest and most dangerous team in the league are the Dallas Cowboys.
