“2016 was our biggest year yet,” Teresa Berg, Co-founder of Artists for Animals, said. “We had more art and more community participation than ever before and the auction was a big hit.”

Hundreds attended the second annual event to help raise money for Operation Kindness, a North Texas-based animal rescue organization.

Guests enjoyed performances from the Young Strings musical group, musicians at SMU and members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra – including Artists for Animals Co-Founder Erin Hannigan.

The music was paired with a slideshow of adorable cats and dogs, prompting many OOHs and AWWs from the audience.

“Artists for Animals 2016 was sophisticated yet laid back,” explained Katherine Rose Watson, AFA’s Publicist. “It’s really a fantastic way to do good while thoroughly enjoying your Saturday night.”

Hannigan even brought the CEO of Operation Kindness Jim Hanophy on stage to play a triangle for the laughing crowd.

The Emcee for the event was none other than Colleen Coyle, meteorologist for WFAA-TV News 8.

Raising Money For A Good CauseArtists for Animals Silent Auction

Many people bid on beautiful pet themed art pieces and gift certificates to high class venues during the silent and live auctions. One item up-for-grabs for the live auction was a catered dinner with one of the best chefs in the Dallas area and a private concert from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

“To raise double what we raised last year is a tremendous feat,” Watson said. “Dallas has such a big heart!”

All the proceeds for the event went to Operation Kindness to help fund medical and other care-related expenses for homeless animals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Allcal loves groups devoted to causes they care about, which is why we were proud to be a sponsor of this year’s Artists for Animals benefit concert.

“The trick to creating a community is finding something that unites you,” Danielle Cocanougher, Allcal Vice President, said. “This organization brings people together with two important passions – art and animals – so it’s a very powerful community.”

Co-organizers Teresa Berg, a Photographer,  and Erin Hannigan, Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Oboe, combined their talents several years ago to help North Texas animal rescue. Since then, they’ve received a tremendous amount of support.

“It’s amazing how many local artists have jumped in to support this cause.”

What’s Next for Artists for Animals

Artists for Animals wants to expand its reach by organizing a few fundraising events each year, in addition to its February benefit concert.

They’re planning a spring recital and hope to have details soon!
